In your gaming life may it be one month, you must have used Tlauncher and wondered is it legal?
let us find out here..
Even today, many people guess the majority of players use TLauncher and never think about its legality. To find the answer, let us go way back to 2013, the exact year when Minecraft TLauncher was made, four years after Minecraft released. But before that let us share some facts about TLauncher
In my more than 8 years of experience, I have never faced any compatibility or performance or virus issues with the game. And there are like very few minor differences between the original Minecraft and TLauncher which you won’t even care about if you want to enjoy the game with friends.
Even while playing, you will not get any signs of piracy in TLauncher. It is available in Windows, macOS, Linux. And they also have a one-click install for 4 gen Optifine, which is way simpler than how you do it in the official Launcher.
They even allow users to log in through their official Minecraft accounts. They have a support system for users so that they can resolve issues faced by users. Whenever Mojang launch a newer version of the game, TLauncher gets it immediately.
They even have their own Premium version which, surprisingly, people actually do buy.
There are not really that much of a difference in the two. Basically, they both are same, and at any time you won’t feel like using a pirated version of the game. But there are some of them.
One of the major difference is that you may not be able to play on many servers except the cracked once, which are not authenticated to Mojang. Even in them, you’ll only miss out custom skins.
And also you will obviously feel like you can’t show this to people as it is not legal and feel like you’re using something you should not.
The real question…
Keeping everything aside, the answer to this question is YES, TLauncher is illegal, and it is Piracy. TLauncher violates Mojang’s privacy. And Mojang has all the rights to take it down, at least the website.
But why haven’t they? Obviously they will increase their sales and earning as well.
The answer is a bit more complicated but we’ll figure it out here.
The creator of Minecraft allowed piracy?
Lets go all the way back to 2012. When Notch tweeted this-
@AndresLeay Just pirate it. If you still like it when you can afford it in the future, buy it then. Also don’t forget to feel bad. 😉— Notch (@notch) January 12, 2012
Notch is the creator of Minecraft by the way. Which he sold it to Microsoft, meaning it is not his anymore. So what happened here is someone asked him what can they do if they are not able to afford Minecraft. And Notch actually replied saying Just pirate it and once you can afford it buy the game.
He is kidding here, but let us break this down. Basically, he says that Yes, you can download the game from somewhere like some piracy website and try the game and once you feel like it’s working for you, then buy the game.
This actually does makes sense.
Basically, he is trying to say that use the cracked Minecraft as a demo. But Minecraft already provides a demo version, doesn’t it? Yes, they do, but if you use it, it has nothing. All of this is my assumption, but I think they allow players to explore Minecraft with the cracked version and later those players can maybe buy the game. This will also help keep the community alive
Here, I’m not saying Minecraft is worth the price, but not everybody can afford it. And also, Mojang is pretty aware of the piracy thing. If you don’t know previously, they have taken down many cracked servers in the past also when they could have just taken down the root to all this which is TLauncher.
In the end, Yes TLauncher is Piracy and is totally illegal, and maybe you can also use it to try the game but make sure to buy the game when it is affordable to you. To help support the people who worked really hard to bring this amazing game to us!
